The Unity Church COGIC is a bible believing church for all people, which was organized in September of 1998. The founding members consisted of 12 brethren and a few women who met at the house of Sis. Margaree Jordan Leroy and the home of Bro. Melvin Turner.

The church had a vision of building a new sanctuary for worship services, saving souls, feeding the hungry, and providing for those in need. Unity was sold two acres of land to build a new sanctuary.

In the meantime, the church began having services at the Titus County Extension building. 2001 and 2002 were busy ones for the ministry: from securing the financial backing for the new church, breaking ground, by faith Unity persevered.

With the support of Dr. Clint Davis, Mr. Lonnie Bo Pilgrim, the Pittsburg Harmony Association, Dr. Marion Wheeler, and others within the community, Unity continued to work towards the vision of a new church sanctuary that we could call our own.

In 2002, the Lord brought that vision to pass as the new sanctuary was completed and Unity opened its doors for the first time. In March of 2016, the church called on Superintendent Eddie H. Bratton, Jr, and his wife Missionary Sheletha Bratton to lead its elevated future.

Under their leadership, the church underwent many renovations and upgrades to improve the overall worship experience. Unity Church Forney was birthed from a vision given to our Pastor by the Lord. In being obedient to this divine assignment, Pastor Bratton set out to find a location that would suit the needs of our church for the new season.

Our first service was launched on June 30, 2024, at our current home of Dewberry Elementary in Forney, Texas. Unity Forney is a sister church to Unity Mt. Pleasant where Pastor Bratton is also the senior pastor. Our motto is “STRONG FAITH, STRONG FAMILIES, STRONG CHURCH”.

We are an outreach ministry seeking to serve our local community, as well as our global partners. Our passion is to support, build, and nurture communities, families, and economic development for the Kingdom. We desire to create an irresistible presence of God through our worship experiences.

It is the desire of the Unity COGIC to disciple, and equip ministry leaders, members, and partners with essential biblical teaching needed to live a wholesome Godly lifestyle.

Participation in our weekly worship services, Wednesday School (Bible Study), evangelism, and community outreach missions are just a small portion of who we are. Unity is continuously striving to bring relevant ministry to the 22nd Century church.

Our goal is to go into the highways, and by-ways compelling everyone to receive the risen savior.  We look forward to sharing the love of God with you, and providing an avenue for one to draw closer to the plan, purpose, and destiny God has for their life.  You are always welcome at the “U”!
